Hunter 27 Edge Port Bara Taragona Spain
Recently received a Hunter edge 27 with the 75hp Everude. Very happy, BUT! After only 12 weeks, resting in the Med (Barcelona) the outboard mounting bracket and piston reservoir has corroded to a very worrying condition, having lost about 6mm of alloy on these components and can no longer raise motor!
Will replace the failing bits, but obviously, cannot afford to do this too often.
Advice someone?

For your information. When in harbour she's connected to a mains supply. The boats bottom has been copper coated. The Med has very high saline level.

Have e-mailed Hunter and Everude. But have not received a reply.

I am not familiar with the Edge engine mount. However, I will assume the engine is raised at the slip and does not contact the water. Is that correct? If so, I wonder if the electrolysis is arising from electrical current? Is the engine isolated from the power supply when it is at the dock? I am assuming the engine mount is aluminum. Is that correct?

Don't hold your breath waiting for Hunter to reply and if they do it will only say to contact your dealer.

I would check for bad grounds in your ac wiring

Do you have lots of zincs?
I read in casey's or someones book about bad grounding causing extreme electrolysis like this.
