I am still absolutely amazed it came to any of this - as a trial.

Thank GOD!!! I wonder if anything's gonna happen about the corruption among Perdock, the DA, and all their buddies. Can't believe Dinius said he had no hard feelings for Perdock. He's a better man than I.

I hope Dinius can put his life back together. What a nightmare.

A Relief

At least he can take comfort in that the system worked as it should have, at least at the point of trial. I'm glad he didn't plead out, assuming he has an offer to do so. Also, my hats off to Latitude 38 and the other media who would not let this slip away.

Great news. Unfortunately his legal bills must be astronomical.

Perdock was just a guy that made a mistake. He is guilty of manslaughter from the limited facts I know. The DA saying he didn't know if the lady would be alive if Perdock was only going 10 MPH instead of 50 sounds more like Perdock's defense attorney rather than a DA.

I am 100% with all of your comments. There is a lesson in this however - make sure that you have one sober legally competent person on board anytime you are under way, or you are setting yourself up for trouble, whether you got struck by lightning or a piece of an airplane fell on you or any other thing, no matter how innocent you are.

Perhaps I am remebering this wrong. Dinius ws sailing along one night and Perdock, going at a high rate of speed slammed into Dinius killing at least one person. Perdock, a cop, was taken away from the scene for a few hours before he did a breath test. Dinius, in the sailboat got charged. Do I have this basically correct?

Now the counter suits will be filed. Malicious prosecution, Wrongful death, real and punitive damages, material loss, etc.

He doesn't need to have hard feelings for Perdork, that's what attorneys are for.

i believe the other lesson is---NEVER leave the helm to go pee---especially at night in a becalmed situation when a drunken deputy sheriff is going to use his corruption against your temporary relief......

hermit--i believe it would not have gone this far had it just only been another civilian running his speeedboat fast into another boat---- but it was a CORRUPT sheriff, HIS county, HIS district attorney, et alii----keeping the sheriff looking clean, in the eyes oif the sheriff..LOL--we all knew otherwise-------stoopit drunken corrupt liar sheriff is left out in the cold now--i hope he is made to be responsible for the mayhem he created in his finest hour of corruption......http://www.latitude38.com/lectronic/lectronicday.lasso?date=2009-08-20&dayid=314

If not yet, someone will say The System Worked

Downside is, it really didn't. The length that this farce was allowed to continue does not bode well for freedom and "right."

OTOH, to make me feel better, there sure were some smart jurors there.

Let Freedom ring, let's do like John and support Dinius and whadda we have to do to go after Perdock and the DA?

Now there's a movement I could really get behind...

Higgs, that's it in a nutshell. Everything else was done to protect Perdock from prosecution. -Paul
