A common overnight race ( Ensenada for example) arrangement is a funnel attached to the stern rail with a hose going overboard. Simple, and safer than leaning over the side. It might not be acceptable in mixed company though.

Thanks Peggie for the feedback. Yes I do final flush with fresh water. Rigid PVC isn't really that rigid and can take a good amount of bend before breaking. It certainly will flex more than the hull. That said, the run from my head to the tank is a straight 6' run with (2) 90's at the end by the tank. The one soft coupling is right at the pump on the back of the head. If in the future I should have to replace any of this stuff it will be a good deal easier and cheaper than hose.

Guess I'm gonna remain a fan of rigid till I find a reason not to.

really no reason to limit the use of PVC to straight runs, using mild heat it can easily be worked into gentle curves, to follow along the hull for instance. Sharper bends can be made with a bit more care using sand to keep it from collapsing.

I set up vacuum runs in my old shop using 2" PVC pipe, gradual enough fittings were unavailable so I bent the PVC around a 21 inch motorcycle rim which gave me nice smooth clog free bends. Don't see why it wouldn't work on boats.

Learn to use the "dry" mode to do more than just remove the last bit of water in the bowl. Any toilet that's working any where near factory specs can move bowl contents at least 6 linear feet or 4 vertical feet in the dry mode...and that's without any help from gravity...
I know better than to challenge Peggy's statements, but this one begs an explanation as it contradicts the little bit that I know about pumps. So, how does it pump when there is nothing in the bowl/pump as the statement implies?

Is that like ...

I am going to have to have you all sign a non-disclosure agreement before you read this. My investor invented the 'Whizz-eez'. It is for when you are at an outdoor event, and the lines for the portajohns are too long. The top part hooks snugly around, well you know. The tube extends down your pantleg and exits by your shoe.
One side effect is; when you take it off you pee your pants because you got too used to using it.
that thing Burt Reynolds used in that football movie that time? I think he called it the trucker's friend.

I knew someone would insist that air alone can't move liquid through a hose...someone always does. But air alone CAN move bowl contents up to 6 linear feet or 4 vertical feet in a 1.5" hose...after that there has to be something more in the line for air to push. Here's how it works:

Manual toilets are "double action"...that is, both sides of the piston are used simultaneously for different purposes. When you pull the pump handle UP, a vacuum is created in the space below the piston that pulls some of the contents out of the bowl and into the bottom half of the pump cylinder. Then, when you push it down, a pair of built-in valves reverse and push the material out of the bottom half of the pump and on down the line...and each pump stroke continues to move it on down the line till it cease to fill the line any more...about 6'.

"I guess my anger for the feminization of men comes from the church. You see so many men that act effeminate because they don't want to seem 'macho'. Sometimes when I meet a guy, I think is he a Christian or gay."

Hermit, that's one of the silliest statements ever posted to this board!

Hermit, That whizz-eez works great. It is easy to flush the cockpit afterwords but I am still working on how to get it out of the cabin.....

Now to be fair...I did not so insist...I just asked for an explanation...Please explain why the air doesn't pass over the liquid in what is essentially a horozontal line?

My friend went forward to use the portapotti on our Lancer 25 under sail. Headroom forward is about 36 inches so he popped the top to go standing up. My friend was sailing by the other way and yelled out "Hey Bob...who's the bow gunner?" as he knew what was going on! It was very funny...but my Wife wasn't laughing as she cleaned up the aftermath of his poor aim under sail!

Why didn't the guest clean up after himself? What a slob. I show my guests the head with instructions for use and the cleaning supplies for after: a choice of latex or nitrile gloves and disinfecting wipes.

I just don't get it. Why not just 'sit and spit'?? Then there's just no need for a clean up. For all those guys that think it's 'manly' to stand, you need to rethink bad habits and for sure clean up after yourself if you do.

is a "guy thing"--and not enjoyed or appreciated by the ones who have to end up cleaning up the mess.....or falling in it when in a sea.....
