Hunter 33 Austin
I am looking at a 320 to buy and wanted to to get some opinions on the sailing abilities and how quite the engine is when motoring. Also, any problem areas with the boat.

Thanks

The boat is compartively light for its class so it is responsive in light air. With the B&R rig it sports a large roach main and working jib. We have the shallow draft wing keel model but the boat points very high into the wind. It is a fast cruiser. It does like to sail pretty straight up at heeling angles of 20 degrees or less. The engine is quiet as the exaust is under the waterline and the enclosure is well insulated. Our's has the 2gm20 which boasts 18 HP but it has proven to be underpowered when motoring against wind and current. We have a 2000 model and the only problems we have had has been a broken tack ring on the Furlex 100 (the unit was reinforced on later models) and the other was the early demise of the Jabsco head. It is a good coastal cruiser with a large cockpit for comfort and entertaining. I do recommend the boat.

Sounds like my 310

I have a Hunter 310 and this description describes it perfectly. With my 310, it only hurts when the heavy winds (18-25 knots) come along. Reefing early...
