Improved venting of the holding tank

Is there a recommended larger size vent hose and topside vent that work well at venting and injecting air into the holding tank to kill the anaerobic bacteria? I am thinking about replacing the host and vent with something new and was wondering. Thanks

I believe 1" has been mentioned and in fact is what I used when I replaced my rusted out tank in my 35.5. Ideally, I think Peggie wrote one time, use a "T" fitting on top of the tank and have 1" hose out either side of the boat to encourage cross flow of fresh air.

I do recommend that the vent line be at least 1" ID...but a tee wouldn't improve ventilation in the tank one bit...'cuz air flow would simplly slide back and forth across the top of the tee without ever going into the tank.

Nor do I even recommend two vent lines in all installations...often one will do just as much.

Where in the boat is the tank located? And what path does the vent line take now---how long, how much rise, how many bends?

It is a 2002 Catalina 310 and the tank is in the aft port cockpit locker. The vent line is about 4-5' long. and it is near vertical from the tank with no bends.

I am also thinking, since I am working in that area of replacing the original Jabsco pump with a replacement. Thoughts?
