PHRF Help!

I have recently purchased a 1981 Hunter 33 (which we much enjoy). To date I've not been able to determine its PHRF despite much time on the internet. The boat has no know modifications, ie, it would carry the rating for that class year--likely my newness to this search is my biggest obstacle. Can anyone help?

Here is a link to the New England PHRF base list. It lists the Hunter 33 as a base of 156. You should be able to get your local PHRF org to write a valid base for you. Give them a call to find out.

PHRF for Galveston Bay lists a Hunter 33 shoal draft base 174.

Every area uses its own PHRF classifications so a new england rating might not be the same as your boat in your area. I suggest that you contact your nearest yacht club sail chairman for a reference to your local PHRF handicapper. When I was handicapping (which was a long time ago) the PHRF rating didn't cost anything, but there was a fee for joining PHRF. You shouldn't have to join to get a rating however.

Depends which PHRF organization oversees your area

Google shows a couple clubs that race in your area -- Rush Creek Yacht Club and the Fort Worth Boat Club. Not sure if one of those is yours. While both have references to racing, it's not clear which PHRF fleet they belong to. Perhaps an e-mail or call to the race officers of those organizations might help you with that.

If your race environment is anything like ours, any race officer at a local club would jump at the chance to help you. I'm pretty involved in our local racing and we are always looking for new victims, er participants!

If Randy gets the shifter cable replaced and functional, we will be there. The cable came yesterday and looks good, now it's just a matter of him contorting his body into unnatural positions to get the thing installed!
