Oday 1971 Mariner 19 2+2 Lake Nockamixon, PA
Can someone recommend a brand for a good inexpensive trailor that will work wth an Oday Mariner 19 (retractable keel)?
Actually, I'm looking to buy an Oday Mariner, and I found a couple of boats without trailors.
I am local (at times) to PA, NJ, and MD. If anyone knows of a Mariner 19 or trailor for sale. let me know

Freeblowing trailers

Freeblowing:

Used sailboat trailers especially those who have seen salt water are usually just that used. Since trailers live outdoors they deteriorate rapidly.

Consider spending more for the trailer than you spent for the boat and get a new one. It will be reliable and give you years of use without major rebuild.

I recommend an Outfit that has recently moved from Connecticut to North Carolina. Mr. Orro is the man to talk to and tell him that I said he would give you discount.

See: http://www.triadtrailers.com/

Even with discount a new trailer will be pricey. Triad are top of the line so do not be surprised. They make galvanized steel trailers and use top quality axels and hitches. Very reliable. You get what you pay for.

As Ed pointed out, you can't go wrong with a new trailer. I would go for a roller trailer for this boat only because the O'Days have very strong and stiff hulls that can take this type of trailer. The hull on the O'Day Mariner is much like the hull on a regular powerboat. The centerboard retracts all the way up into the centerboard case in the hull, so there is nothing protruding below the hull. I honestly think that you could get away with a regular powerboat trailer for the Mariner. This is something that you can ask about when you are choosing a trailer for this boat. If you plan on doing a lot of trailer sailing, a roller trailer is a must. If not, a cloth bunk trailer will suit your needs for this boat. My O'Day 222 came with a special roller trailer that allowed me to load and unload my sailboat with ease in spite of it's protruding 800 LBS keel centerboard design that sat on special keel rollers when it was sitting on the trailer. Today, I no longer trailer-sail my boat and I've switch to a Long Mfg. Aluminum tandem flat bunk trailer, and the boat is moored at our yacht club.
