The anchor light seams to have failed on my 1987 O'day 302. Any one have and idea on what type of bulb would be up their? Was hoping on completing the repair with only one trip up the mast. Feel kind of bad about my friends having to winch me up there more than once.

At least on my '80 23...

...its one of the cylindrical bulbs with the dimple ends. Not the pointed ends.

Larry, before you go up the mast, check the voltage at the deck receptacle first. I think that the mast light bulb might be the cylindrical type with the metal contact at each end. The bulb might be OK but the contacts could be poor which would cause it to not come on with the switch. Bring your Ohms/volt meter with you to check out the bulb and contacts. I fixed my anchor light last month. It was mostly a poor contact in the socket. I used my Dremel Tool with a small rotary wire brush to clean the contacts. Also, the clear plastic lens on my light has a plastic pin inside the lens that depresses the top contact when the lens is in place. I had to make sure that it was lined up with the contact when I inserted the lens. The bulb is inserted in a vertical position in the two contacts and the plastic prong keeps the bulb from getting jarred out of the socket. But then on the other hand, (four thumbs and a finger),:D you may have a different anchor light than I have.
