Howdy.

Due to unfortunate circumstances, (see "blown engine on my cat) I need to cut the shaft on my cat 30.

I am asking what tools one might suggest?

Sawzall?

Angle grinder? 4" or 7"??

What else?

4" angle grinder with a thin cut off disc will do it in about 40 seconds..

No *&$%???

I am VERY encouraged by that. Heading to Sears tomorrow to get a nice 4" angle grinder. God help that shaft Saturday.

Any other directions on removing the entire shaft?

Should have bought a 7". With the coupler in there and so on it was VERY tight getting the 4" in there to cut. I had to cut into the shaft, turn it and cut again, repeating this process 4-5 times and then I went at it with a hacksaw blade.

Got it down pretty good with that, then used all my pent up frustration with the boat to RIP it out with my bare hands! AAAARRRRRRRRR!!!!!

Pirate Pete strikes again!
