Refinished and upgraded binacle project completed

I decided to do a major overhaul of the steering components this year.

I removed the binacle and stripped down to bare aluminum. That was then powder coated. I also fabricated a new top plate and GPS mount that swivels for when I sail from the lee side. The wiring is led down through the binacle. I also added a new guard, rebuilt my compass, adjusted my steering that was way out of spec, added new instruments(ST60+) including rudder angle display and S1 AP(I have a new spare rudder position sensor if anyone is interested).

We polished the lower part of the cockpit which is much easier to get to without the binacle and guard. We also replaced the quarterberth portlight and the primary winches.

You need a cover on that exposed cable port on the back. :) Looks good otherwise... But I am surprised that the GPS doesn't affect the compass being mounted that closely to it.

Thanks dog. I am working on a cover even though the connections are watertight. My concern is the exposed video connection that I am not using. Garmin does not make a cap for that one.

I had my CP mounted in this position for 2 seasons with no perceived affect. I am getting the compass spun by a pro next week just to confirm and also to sync the GPS, AP and compass.

It's obvious from the center picture that the Garmin box is not affecting the compass, because the N is offset about 14 degrees. :):):)
