Canadian DUI customs problems

Which former Vice President are you talking about? Ford, Bush, or someone even further back???

I'm not surprised that the U.S. is doing this. Our customs and border policies have been a national disgrace since before our former vice president began running the country. After visiting Canada monthly last year, it was a surprise to learn this about a country I'd come to know and love. I'm sure that retaliation and an attempt of pressure the U.S. into a more reasonable attitude is a factor. It just doesn't square with the practical attitudes that made building a boat in Canada and spending time there such a pleasure.

I think the take home lesson for sailors on both sides of the border is not to cross a large body of water to the other nation without enough fuel, supplies, and endurance to turn around and go right back again. The border issues have become so nutty that clearance can not longer be considered a given.

I can't tell you because this would then become a political discussion Only one VP that I know of has ever been accused of doing anything other than going to funerals.

I can remember when my son was hauling fuel from Montreal to upstate NY. He just displayed his CDL and bill of lading and was good to go.

Now I 'understand'... my uncle Angus was a 'rum runner' in Nova Scotia. Once during inclement weather they were heading for shore with a full load. [they used to barrel onto shore at high speed.] Rainy, foggy weather was the favorite. The mounties intercepted and one of them fell into the drink during boarding. Angus jumped in and rescued the officer who still arrested him. 'Understand' as in why Angus didn't care for mounties.

Its not like Canada needs revenue???

Its only about 5-10 of humanity thats ever gotten caught.

Its the other big percentage they should really worry about....
