I have an Oday 28, and have been putting her in shape over the last year. Redid most of the wiring when I repowered her. However, I didn't have to do much with the shore power panel or any 110 circuits. I have the main switch, the water heater, the outlets, and I understand all of these. However, there is one toggle named "Spare" and has a light associated with it. What is the spare for?

Spare

Is for whatever you want it to be for. If you want to add a circuit, you have a breaker for it. I have auto pilot on one of the spares. Some have more than one, and some have spares on the AC and the DC Panels.

It is probably just that... a spare circuit that wasn't used by the previous owner and left for future expansion. Check the back of the panel...chances are good that it isn't hooked up to anything.

Cool thanks. I need a spare circuit, but not on the 110 side. But who knows? could be a great excuse with the wife to have that Refrigerator.......can't have a spare that's not used!

Thanks a bunch!

Just remember if you use it, then it is no longer a "spare". ;) Sometimes I see domestic breaker panels with many expansion slots left and sometimes I find those boxes so crowded that I am afraid to mess with them.

You didn't mention a battery charger, if you have one might want to make sure it works when the "spare" is turned off.

This is an important switch. Don't use it as it is for Spare. If you use it, you don't have anymore spare. :naughty: ;)

Since you guys are clearly really smart, maybe you can solve a problem I've been having with my computer since I bought it.

Sometimes the programs will ask me to press the "any" key. Which key is this?

Re: Ken and Ross

Bill, they actually had this problem in some public libraries with patrons going to the information desk and complainimg about not being able to find the "any" key. I still can't find the "dot com" key. ;)

Guys, pressing "any" key is easy. Its the "A" , "N" and "Y". But do note you have to press it in sequence. ;)

When the emergency nine-eleven phone system was put into service people said that there was no eleven button on their phones. As a result we have a nine-one-one system.

All of you have missed it...

that switch is to turn the "Spare" on and off (that's the little light next to the switch)...;)
