See and hear alot of talk over this and am wondering what is it ??? waves "rocking/slapping" the boat ?? how anoying is it ? sailing a 23.5 here is this common for every sailboat??
Basically it is waves that roll under the aft of the boat and slap against the bottom, right behind the transom. It depends on the boat, but on ours the slap of even small waves can make for a tough night to get any sleep if you sleep in aft like we do. Because of that, I bought one and gave it a try. It works extremely well, and do recommend one if transom slap is a problem. I use it when anchored or when moored and facing away from the prevailing surge. Bought mine here.
