My datamarine mast unit isnt registering wind speed. Its that common issue from moisture collecting at the base and sitting on the circuit board... Now I was told that back when Datamarine was in business they had a rebuild kit they sold for this part. Does anyone know somewhere that might have that rebuild kit? maybe sitting at some shop in that corner closet with old out-dated parts? has anyone tried rebuilding it themselves without a kit? Im trying to avoid buying new electronics for another couple years and I enjoy the repairs as a hobby...

Why not just call them, they could tell you. Good folks, very helpful, redid our depth sounder a few years ago.

Was it the same problem as mine? if so how much did it cost for repair?
Not the same. I sent mine in to have the masthead transducer rebuilt. I do not recall the exact price but I was surprised at how high it was. They were nice to deal with though and I do not mind paying a little extra for good service. This year they will be replaced with Raymarine ST60+.

I have a DataMarine unit as well. It shows apparent wind direction fine but the speed unit is broken. I've just been using a hand held unit for wind speed. I'd like to get it fixed but I'm not sure I'd be willing to spend alot of money on it.

DMI people ==> 5 stars

My Datamarine instruments are almost 20 years old now and the few times I've had a question or an issue they have been very helpful.

When my masthead windspeed aneometer seemed kinda slow or dragging they sold me a DIY kit to replace the bearing, and I think the circuit board too, and I don't recall being shocked by the price.

Even though DMI is 2,000 miles away they have been more helpful than a local electronics store or shop that one can walk into.

Great people. I'd rather keep my old Datamarine electronics than get any new stuff.
