Race Around the World

I had them first bookmarked about 8 months ago. It seems to me that this has to be the resurrected BT Global Challenge fleet, of which not much was heard after Sir Chay Blyth's bankruptcy a little over a year ago. They had 14 67-footers and this new outfit, operating under the tutelage of Sir Robin Knox Johnston, wants to race 10 68-footers. The difference in length is easily within bowsprit and/or windvane appendix range.
I wish them lots of success but fail to see how they can successfully navigate the infinitely more difficult economic climate now when BT Global Challenge, who appeared to be quite successful from a participatory point of view (they were said to have more applications than they could handle) never figured out how to run a business that only gets one big cash infusion every two years or so. Perhaps, they are hoping to have many more media deals with live on-board action using the latest satellite technology. However, the "relative handful" of true sailing fanatics who would want to check in regularly do have more and more options to join live broadcasts from across-ocean or around-the-world races.
