San Francisco Bay's Thanksgiving Day forecast is sunny; albeit without much wind.

Wind or no, we're anticipating to take the boat out for a few hours. Then return to our terra firma abode for the traditional Thanksgiving get-together.

Guess the following question doesn’t apply much to forum members located along the Atlantic middle seaboard, New England, Canada, and on the Great Lakes -- but for those residing in more temperate climates, does sailing factor into your Thanksgiving Day?

We're going out tomorrow for a couple days. We will cook turkey and have all the trimmings:)

It will be cool, but should have some decent winds. That's what the dodger and the rest of the canvas is for.

Heading out to Catalina in the morning for turkey dinner at the Harbor Reef. Should be a good weekend after the rain blows by.

Happy Thanksgiving to All,
After having Thanksgiving dinner with friends and relatives, we are sailing from MDR to Long Beach where we will stay before heading back to MDR on Sunday evening.
While in Long Beach, we will be taking out nieces and nephews (ages 5 to 24) for their first adventure on a sailboat. Potential crew members for future racing!

Annual Day After Thanksgiving Ritual. We do the family thing on Thursday, then drive up to the boat (65, hard to weather). Friday we take the Alameda Ferry to San Francisco, avoiding the crowds and parking fees. Saturday we take the boat out and tool around the Bay for a little while, usually with the sail cover on. If we are really energetic, we'll unroll the jib. Looking forward to that sunny forecast.

Absolutely... I look out the house window and dream, before I go deer hunting and cook "The Bird"!

The Lions always lose... but they usually put up a very good fight.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Family day but we plan to sail on Saturday weather permitting. Last Sunday we sailed but it was kind of cold...well at least Alabama cold....high around 50 degrees.

Although Free Spirit is on the hard for the winter, today is in the mid forty's and there's an annual Turkey Day race my club has on the Great South Bay but other plans have kept me from watching or crewing.

Like ITMaster, we too, will be going out tomorrow for a few days....
and considering the season, I changed my avitar...
that's ice on the deck and icecicles on the lifelines. We were comming home last February; crossing the Currituck Sound ... temp 28F, winds, NW 20kts, spray freezing as it hit the deck.

Buck! Love the new avitar!

We'll be circumnavigating Angel Island tomorrow. Hoping to have less ice on the rail.

It's 40 outside, the snow is melting and the boat is under cover for the winter till April. House smells of good food and my belly is grumbling. All that is left now is to wait for spring to return to the northern climes. Happy Thanksgiving to you all and good Sailing to you that still can.

We did go sailing on Thanksgiving

Cooked a Turkey roll in the oven. Took Friday off and were out all 4 days and toured around Christian, Hope and Beckwith Islands. Weather was sunny and warm, cool overnight. Had an awesome time with the family, the first time all 4 of us were on the boat this season.

Oh, this was CDN Thanksgiving eh, Oct. 10 - 13. :D

T-day sailing on L Erie

The sun was out, for the first time in a week. The temps in the upper 30's. There was some ice in Lake Erie so the water temp must be down there. When I got to the marina, it appeared the boat left about 15 minutes earlier. So I scurried over to Edgewater, then Whiskey Island to get these shots. I saw 4 sailboats out, several trailerable fishing boats, and one big gun.

I went out briefly on Thanksgiving, on the York River in Virginia. Always great to be out on the water, even when it's nippy.
