I'm looking for the winch handle for my 1976 Macgregor Venture 25, does anybody knows where can I get one ?
I bought the boat 3 months ago and it came with no handle, along other missing things, and the winches looked stucked, bu we have been loosing the with pb penetrator oil, and looked that they will work, and the problem is that this old model of winches does not use the universal star pattern of the actual winches, so the handle is not sold in west marine or boaters world or defender.
This handle is the one with a two half circle pattern on top and a big sloted bolt on top.
Can someone help me with this ?
Thank you

Try http://www.minneysyachtsurplus.com/ ,You will have to call them though, they don't list small stuff online, very nice people. Tim
ps, Don't worry too much about the winches, they aren't really necessary, I put nice new winches on my 22, and use them rarely, most people don't bother with them.

Is this the winch and handle you are talking about?

I've sailed a '79 Venture 25 for years and I can't remember the last time I used the winch handle. In all but the strongest winds just taking a few wraps around the winch and pulling is all you need. For more force you can use your legs and push against the rear cabin bulkhead.

Those handles don't stay engaged in the winch well, anyway. If you move it somewhat off perpendicular to the axis it will come off.

My 2 cents.
