Numbers on Sail

I am replacing the mainsail on my 70 Hunter 30 and the new sail will have the h30 logo and numbers as well. Is the sail number pulled from the hull numbers?

Not necessarily so.
If you intend to race, the local racing authority would assign a sail number when you apply.
