HUNTER 280 Zincs

I cannot find any other zincs on my boat other than the prop shaft. The Yanmar engine does not appear to have any and a friend who has an older Yanmar has 2 locations for zinc replacement in the block. I have also heard that some zincs are sometimes placed near the raw water inlet filter. Do I only really have 2 ??? thnx

Tell us which Yanmar you have. Only a few Yanmar models have zincs on the heat exchanger.

It has been my belief....

....that raw water cooled engines have zincs, fresh water cooled engines don't but I have been wrong before.

My 2003 Hunter 306 only has a couple of zincs on the prop shaft. That's what I was told when I did my purchase survey last January - they were both loose when we did a "short pull" after a post-test sail. The dealer pulled them off...put 2 new ones on...tightened then whacked 'em good with a hammer and re-tightened. I plan on replacing them again when we pull the boat to put it on the hard for the winter in a week or so. The Yanmar 2GM20F I have has a 1" shaft, BTW. Hope this helps.
