we provisioned ours by cab one way

When we bareboated with the Moorings in Tortola last year we walked to the grocery and then taxi cabbed back with the goods. There were plenty of cabs available at the grocery and the driver was very helpful all the way back to the boat. Stock up. After we left Tortola the supplies were hit or miss at the various stops depending on how you time it with the arrival of the truck. I remember lots of bare shelves. Have fun, it's a great place to cruise. If you like to snorkel check out the Indians for sure. My family also enjoyed the Baths.

Provisions

We provisioned with Bobby's on line too. They also have a store in Cane
Garden Bay that was well stocked, fresh milk produce and meat, bread and
all the rest of it. My wife got very seasick so we ended up on the beach
2nd week of Sept. was very quiet! Myetts Garden Hotel, Bar and Restaurant was a very fine place to end up however!

Chartering with kids

I am also chartering in the BVI's in early December. We will have 3 kids in the group (ages 7 - 9 and all good swimmers) Any suggestions for the best beaches and snorkelling sites for kids?

The Baths and the cave at Normans Bight are just two of the great places to snorkel

The "Captain's briefing" at Sunsail covered everything you need to know
The other charter co.s will do the same I am sure.
Remember; kids are strange creatures, what appears boring to you may fascinate them. Things exciting to us may frighten them.

A couple of less common stops

At the east end of Jost VD there is a new Foxy's that makes a good day stop. A short walk takes you to a place they call the bubbly pool where the ocean breakers pour in. Watch for the Urchins, though. Also there is good snorkeling at Sandy Cay.

Great Harbor on Peter Island is now open to the public and the restaurant ashore provided us with a very nice pig roast.

We, too, like to do our own provisioning and at least around Road Town that is no problem. Cabs are readily available and some of the charter companies are close enough to stores you can walk.

We just might see you there! I just booked a brand new Bene 31 for a week. Mar28-April 4. We downsized this year as there's only the admiral and myself.
Bring more cash-less clothes. We bring our own snorkel gear,and carry everything in carry on duffles. Don't provision for the whole 9 days right away. You'll eat off the boat more often than you think,'cause there's so many good places. The big barbecue at Foxy's on JVD is Friday nights,but reserve a spot early in the day,or day before.Here's a link to last years trip.

We have chartered the BVI's 5 - 7 times

Sort of lost count. The more we go the less we bring. We provision for breakfast and lunch and always end up a a beach bar for dinner. Don't miss top of the baths for dinner. Take a cab out of Spanishtown. Look for Morgan Freeman's boat Afrodisiac. It's a Shannon. We also recommend a mooring ball every night. It is great piece of mind when the wind picks up. Rum is cheap. Be prepared for casual nudity in the water and on boats. Scan around before you moor if this is a concern with children. Many boats sail nude or at least topless.

You will have a great time.
