The demise of this iconic Australian brand is a sad tale indeed, that could have been prevented IMO, and which is better not revisited.

That aside, I'd like be in contact with as many Buizen 48 owners as possible:
* Those who formerly owned a Buizen 48, and
* Those who now own a Buizen 48.

I'd like to establish a group that can advise and assist each other in all aspects of this 48 foot Pilothouse yachts.

I've never heard of them, but from what I see - sure seem like a nice boat!

There's a Facebook group.

Wow dj, thank you so much for pointing me in the correct direction.

While it appears there are no recent posts, did I notice a Marty M administers a Buizen owners group on What’s App.
Unfortunately, I'm having difficulty accessing this WhatsApp group.
I've posted to the FB group hoping some B48 owner will assist me to join the WhatsApp group.

Again, sincere appreciation for your assistance.

Well I hope it works out for you.

Where are your sailing out of? I see West Haven Marina in your signature- is that in Australia?

I would love to sail down under! I may be in New Zealand next year sailing a bit with a friend. But it's not set in stone yet...Time will tell...

The cost of owning a boat, especially a sailboat has become astronomical.
Hourly Tradesperson rates ~NZ$125-$135/hr. (and they work less hours than a Banker, with weekends off);
Berth rental for a 16m berth ~NZ$2,100/mo.;
Haul-out & in (over NZ$1K) with "On the Hard" rates through the roof!

Compared to US rates, those are not too high. Currently $1US = $.58NZ. That puts the hourly rate at $78, in the US rates can easily top $100 a depending on location. The haul out rate is a bargain at $580 US.

Where I have my boat, the hourly work rates are about double what he is paying but I do most of my own work. The haul out rate is almost identical. His monthly slip rates are well above mine, approaching per month what my yearly costs are. Id definitely not be happy with that one...
