The reminder I got was from the third party site also. I went to the proper gov site. Entered all the information. When I tried to go to pay portal is spun, thought about it, then did nothing. I tried on both a Mac and Windows machine with the same results. Anyone else having the same problem?

Due to the federal funding hiatus, applications for documentation and other services related to commercial operations are being held until the government re-opens. To avoid risk of CODs expiring/additional fees being incurred, vessel owners are encouraged to renew via eStorefront, PRIOR to COD expiration date.
Requests related to recreational endorsements/activities will continue to be processed.

I got mine done Monday evening. I also got an e-mail confirmation that evening. Checking just now on the website that John posted, it says my last update was Monday, 2/23/26 so I'm feeling pretty confident.

I didn't see any reference to a "renewal date" on that search but my status was listed as "Active" and the last update was "Monday, 2/23/26 so I'm guessing that I was immediately renewed. I was a bit nervous and I don't have my document at home (it's on the boat with copies on the boat as well ). I'm pretty sure my expiration would be about the end of March or maybe in April at the latest. I don't recall the exact date. To be honest, I had forgotten about the whole thing until I got a notice from the scam site. A got another reminder in the mail just today! I think my boat is under 2 feet of snow right now so I'm not planning any trips down to the marina any time soon!

I think the update date of 2/23/26 is the last time they updated their files, not the last date they updated your particular file. My record shows the same 2/23/26 date and I haven't had anything to do with them in over a year.

So be careful when you renew..

Last year when i renewed completed the online...got a confirmation but no paperwork sent

When i followed up then discovered no documentation was done
They said it was their system problem

Well when sending the docs again it processed correctly this time but now they said we were past the renewal time and a late fee
Then again their system had a problem processing
It was sept. before the paperwork arrived

So be ready for issues this year

Maine Maritime Academy has just announced that cadets that were scheduled to sit for their tonnage licenses are now in limbo. The CG has deferred to DHS and the funding withholding..

Yes, I must have missed the bottom of the page! Surprisingly, I got my documentation in the mail already last Friday. Now my expiration is Feb. 28, 2031. They turned this around for me within 2 weeks. I must have connections I don't know about!

As some encouraging news…If you are feeling at all uneasy about getting your vessel documents renewed, I can add my own experience.
I renewed my COD document this morning (3/30/26) using the eStorefront. I received an email this afternoon, confirming it is completed and being sent by mail.
Just plan for it accordingly for your expiration date and rest easy.
