CAL 35 Cruiser #21 moored EVERETT WA
The spring of 2023, I hauled the boat. Found two guys who sanded and painted the boat while, I bought materials and supervised the process. While they worked on the hull, I focused on projects related to the engine rebuild. It took about 30 days for the bottom work and setup for the engine. The project included a bit of mixed bad spring weather and drying out. The surface blisters required patches. I had my engine reinstalled and I saved my back in exchange for a couple of boat bucks. They did a great job.

I'd hired a young man who had a mobile media blasting service. I was looking to soda blast my hull. He convinced me that glass bead was the way to go. Took his advice. Turned out great. Cost me $2200.00

Marine Services quoted me $15K. Passed on that one. What is the determinant factor?

Terry, going with glass Bead presented a faster route to painting. The soda would have meant neutralization of residue. The glass left virtually nothing behind. I did a power wash just to be safe, let it dry and started the barrier coating process.
