Catalina 30 Long Beach
Hi all! Looking for insights. I have a 1979 Catalina 30 and for a while I’ve been seeing dead termites and other evidence of termite activity , mainly in the gallery area, on top of the surfaces.

Questions
1. How bad is this to the integrity of the boat?
2. I’ve tried using ”bombs” to kill them but they keep coming back, how to get rid of them?
3. Where is the wood they are eating!?
It’s not the wood in the galley surfaces. The wood areas I see down below doesn’t show termite damage. I’m assuming it’s dropping from above but fiberglass is above!

Thanks for reading and any insights you might have!

If they are eating the core of the deck, something I haven't encountered, the fiberglass skins of the deck might prevent the bomb toxins from getting into the core.
I would seek the services of a professional exterminator, who can offer a warranty on their results. I can imagine having to drill holes in the deck to apply pesticides.

You can get rid of termites (and anything else) by heating the boat to over 140 degrees - this is commonly done in houses as an alternative to nasty chemicals. Heat penetrates well. Check out this thread for someone that successfully got rid of them: I think I have Termites - Help!
