Hunter stern and bow seats

Stern and bow seats from a 1994 Hunter 37.5. These probably fit other Hunters from that generation. The teak has been removed and stripped on all sides and is ready for oil or varnish. I reattached the teak strips for the photos. We were about to varnish the wood when we decided to go a different direction.
If interested, either pick up in Gaithersburg, MD, or pay for shipping. All three seats together weigh just under 15 lbs.
Thanks,
Paul

I hope it was away from varnish and cetol.

These strips are 15+ years old and never been touched. Five layers of System Three Silver Tip clear epoxy and three layers of exterior varnish :

That looks great!
We went away from wood. These are 1/2" thick starboard with a dimpled finish. Sorry I don't have better pictures.

Well, it's certainly going to outlast mine without the real teak.

Maybe it's not to late to use a little :

I think it would look sharp with tan coloured 1/4" thick strips on top of the seats to simulate the original teak strips. This place will even cut the starboard strips to width.

But aside from my looking for work for you to do rather than being out sailing, what really turned my crank is your SS drink holders in your seats. As you can see, mine look like the interior of an unmaintained toilet no matter how much I scrub.
Are these an original from 1994 or added at a later date ?

Hello hello,

Exactly what I'm searching for. Think I'll go for the Amazony after I ask a few questions about cup diameter.

I can't go for the Hunterowers cups or I could lose my passport for supporting you know who.

Those look like the ones I used, though I think I bought mine from West Marine. They are new, not original. If you use them, I suggest you ignore the hole diameter recommendation on the packaging. Instead measure the diameter. I found there was quite a difference.
I also routed a relief for the rim so that it is close to flush with the surface.

How did you avoid having the cup bounce out of the original hole of the Starboard seat if there was a considerable difference or ....................... was the original factory cut hole smaller ? Smaller I can deal with but larger presents a few problems.

The little piss pot plastic cups I now have (see post # 2) are a jam fit but I know I could never be that lucky with the new SS holders. I'll have to work with whatever arrives as the SS holders just look too sharp not to install.

It would take a very deep wave to lift the cup holder up the necessary >4” to topple it into the drink. (pun intended). Anything less, gravity will do its thing dropping the holder back in place until the next wave. A good bead of silicone will hold the SS holder in place even on the HDPE board. Annual replacement will be required. Or a full tin of a good local craft IPA in the holder will do the same.

I don't think the sight of two cups bouncing up and down as much as 4" in their respective holders would inspire too much confidence in your Great Aunt Nellie, out for her very first time in your high speed sailboat while celebrating her 96th birthday.

And, I might add, her LAST birthday :yikes: .
