Only 4 through hulls on C30 MKl

Plumbing question.
Kitchen sink is draining into the bilge. Is there another arrangement to allow the kitchen sink to drain overboard?
Someone add a air conditioner and used the kitchen sink overboard drain for the raw water cooling.

That anyone would want the sink to drain into the bilge astonishes me. Did Catalina design that?
Install a thruhull and drain it overboard.

No, Someone add an air conditioner and used the kitchen sink overboard drain for the raw water cooling for the air conditioner.
I know that Frank Butler would design it like that..

Not a good idea. And the manufacturer installed a thruhull for the sink to drain the sink, not an aftermarket a/C. So now you have no sink drain. Since it would be dangerous to combine them, install a new thruhull and problem solved!

Don,
That would be best practices.
Or run a line forward to the lav sink through hull if it has enough fall for now until the next haul out.

Welcome to the forum!
I agree with Don, you need to install a new thru hull for the sink drain. I'm not sure if the sink will drain properly thru a line running to the head sink drain. I don't think you run a hose that distance and level enough to allow it to drain.
What's more important, a properly draining sink or the AC? If you can do without the AC for a bit, maybe go back to using that thru hull for the sink drain until you can install a new thru hull.

I have a tandem axletrailer and a Tundra Toyota truck with towing package but I don’t think it’s enough to pull it out. Although it’s a good ramp. The Catalina C30 MK1 displacement is10,500 pounds without trailer. Bottom paint is shark skin and was put on last year so I don’t think I’ll be pulling it for a while.
We don’t really cook on the boat.

Or just drain it into the black water holding tank for now.
@Peggie Hall HeadMistress
I tagged the forum's sanitation system expert for an opinion as I'm pretty sure this would be a no no. Nasty bugs could migrate up the sink drain and into the sink, contaminating everything put into the sink. This is based on warnings to never connect a head to your pressurized fresh water system unless the head is specifically built for fresh water flushing. Nasties could migrate into your fresh water system otherwise.

Peggie,
Thank,
I am a small boat sailer and have no experience in large boats. That why I came here.

First off there are no pee traps and it’s a holding tank not a septic tank. as well as the distance between the tank and the sink.

Out of curiosity, what dangers do you see in combining them ?
Paranoia mostly. It’s a “what could go wrong” mentality. If someone plumbed an A/C circulating pump to a thruhull common with a sink (or any other open drain ) and forgot to open the thruhull valve or it gets clogged, the A/c pump backflows into the boat which, if left unattended while the A/C is running, could ruin your day.

That's the way I look at most problems on my boat but more as a sarcastic remark meaning "nothing could go wrong here" and then watch as :

No, I would never advocate putting the sink drain into the cooling water A/C drain or the bilge. It needs a dedicated thru-hull.

Kind of a Freudian slip.
Because these systems are so messed up, we don’t cook on the boat or use the bathroom unless necessary.
I vacuum out any water in the bugle before leaving.
Another concern of mine is how much fresh air does a boat have naturally flowing through it for the occupants. Or how many holes in a box does it take to keep Schrödinger’s cat alive?

We always have at least one hatch cracked open no matter how cold it is when we're sleeping. And never a heating device of any kind.

One other piece of advice as far as air for sleeping goes, "NEVER LET A POWER BOATER BACK HIS GIN MILL INTO YOUR TRANSOM" if you should find yourself on a long dock.

Three of us in our boat didn't pay too much attention to the gin mill sitting transom to transom behind us that evening and almost didn't wake up the next morning. We tied up long before this guy arrived. Seems the guy operating this behemoth behind us decised to run his engines for a good while early the next morning and filled our cabin with CO as our companionway was open. I woke up the next morning ready to puke my guts out and started yelling at everyone in our cabin to get up. The #$%$^&^%& was just leaving in a cloud of smoke and didn't know and couldn't care less if we were dead or alive. If I had been able to jump aboard his boat before he left, I would have cheerfully split his head open with a winch handle and worried about the consequences later.

Under no circumstances would I ever let one of these morons pull a transom to transom stunt with my boat again. You're looking at a possible death sentence if he decides to fire up his boat before you are awake in the morning, even if he tells you he's not leaving early. And trust me .............. couldn't care less.

Reason #99 why I hate power boaters.
