What is the "metal box" at the end of a rubber hose laying on my heat exchanger?

I'll get a photo this week, but pulled my engine (Westerbeke M25 (Not -XP)) to examine and replace oil pan.
There's an oil leak.

Now near the rear of the engine, there's a hose leading to a metal block (Silver ish like aluminum) which is corroded roughly 25% off the bottom. It lays on top of a bracket, that lays on top of my heat exchanger.

I was trying to sort out of its a temperature gauge, maybe oil pressure gause or some such device.
(Neither of my initial thoughts make sense, "temp" wouldn't need the hose off it, oil "pressure" surely would lay on top of the heat exchanger.) It's possibly or probably unused but I'd love to get some feedback... ideas, theories or random guesses.

I know its a pre mature post, I'll get the photo this week and update, and I'll get an angle showing where the hose attaches to teh engine.

Well, I guess I've sorted it out on my own.
It seems to be the oil pressure sensor, only I was confused because it mounted to the heat exchanger probably by a prior owner.

I'm adding a picture of my own, and a picture from another post'er that has a nice label.
(Mine has red writing and the other post'er has a nicer bubble label.)
