I was told my boat’s leak was from the keel/hull joint
At launch it looked like the water was coming in from around the second from rear keel bolt.
Put a month of labour and a fortune in materials sealing the joint from the outside and around the keel bolt from the inside.
im satisfied the keel joint is water tight
but when I launched her a second time, I could see the water was coming from the drain hole between the rear-most floor compartment )the one at the base of the companion way) and the bilge
I looked at all of the through hulls and none of them were visibly leaking ….
but I later realized that the through hull that leads from the bathroom sink seats on the inner liner (I never know the right way to describe the fiberglass reinforcing structure that runs “ribs” from side to side and front to back. They support the sole boards and are joined together by what u call the inner liner)
From the outside, through hull looks like it might let water passed it. Since it is seated in the liner and since the liner offers a direct line to the drainage hole no
my theory is that water is getting by the through hull then finds its way to the bilge between the liner and the hull
to test the theory I was plan I g on cutting away some of the liner then replace the through-hull but this time cinching the inside nut against hull instead of the liner
does that make sense ??
