Hi, Looking for Al or Mike or Joe Kerr. We have a 2012 50AC that was sold through Specialty Yachts in Vancouver. It has an aluminum extra fuel tank under the galley floor. I want to transfer or feed the engine from this tank, but the fuel ine seems to go directly to the main aft tank and has no transfer pump in that line. There is a Fuel Pump button breaker/fuse on the panel with the main battery switch and the anchor windlass, but pushing it in doesn't seem to operate any pump. Can anyone explain this to me as the two previous owners have not used this fuel ever. Thank You. Derek & Betsy on Saltspring Island.

That is 12 years ago and people move on, so I am trying to find out by asking knowledgable people who might know the answer. Having owned 7 boats over 45 ft over the last 40 years I have come to realize you must seek answers wherever you can.

You have owned 7 boats. What I am sharing should come as no surprise.
There have been 2 previous owners. (5 above). Have they disconnected the fuel pump breaker/fuse? Have you inspected the fuel hoses, do they connect the two tanks.

I am the owner of a 50 year old boat that had several previous owners, no contacts with owners or builders possible. I used a flashlight and spent the time in the boat tracing all wiring/hoses/and systems. It is tedious but not rocket science. I am sure that the builder of your boat could not tell with any certainty what might have occurred under the ownership of previous individuals.

Since you want to transfer fuel between two tanks, you can seek professional boat mechanic help, or take the owner DIY approach. With an existing switch you can wire a pump to the switch, connect hoses and away you go. Just be sure the tank you want to use is not being used for another purpose (holding tank or fresh water).
