I recently got blown into rocks in a thunderstorm. My rudder was damaged. Can you tell me the proper length of rudder for a hunter 33.5, I can possible rebuild it if i didn't lose too much material. I can see the bottom of the steel plate in the rudder. Thanks

You might want to call the shop here at SBO. Ask the staff is they can give you the correct dimensions. You will want to know more than just the size. You would like to know the chord to properly shape the foil. It is not just a barn door hung under the boat. It will be shorter than the depth of the keel. Don't have the measurements. Hunter did provide some detailed drawings of the boat in their manual. You may find what you seek in those drawings.
Can’t tell you the exact length; however, my 1988 H33.5 rudder length was only about 4” shorter than the shoal draft keel. That always concerned me, seems that Hunter would have made the rudder 12 to 18” shorter to protect rudder in a grounding incident. Perhaps there was one standard length rudder for both the shoal & deep keels.
Foss Foam was the original suppliers of rudders for Hunter. They still have the tooling and will make one to order. They are probably the best source of information.
Thanks. From pictures and diagrams on internet, the rudder appears tp be just a little shorter than the shallow draft fin keel. fin keel. i was thinking maybe 6 inches, so this is good guidance.
