Just how big is British Columbia?

Nice overlay display, John. Yes, been up there a number of times, however, just scratched the surface of places to visit. Vistas, gorges, islands, bays, coves, all need checking out. Too often in a hurry and miss the important stuff.

Cool @jssailem thanks.

I just pulled this off the internet

HelloBC.

“BC's rugged coastline stretches for 25,725 kilometres/15,985 miles, including deep, mountainous fjords and tens of thousands of marine islands, the overwhelming majority of which are uninhabited. BC is home to approximately 1,000 provincial parks and 7 national parks.”

That combined with the coast line of the PNW should keep me busy for a few years.

Me too.
That fluff piece was a bit of marketing spin...
British Columbia
Summers are warm but not too hot, and winters are mild and wet with little snow at sea level.
I submit this photo taken at "sea level" Saturna Island 11 February 2019 4:10 PM
Does this look like "little Snow at Sea Level"...

Oh so much fun awaits...
If it can pull this amazing day off, it has got to be a fun place to explore.

They say “It’s all in the eyes of the beholder.”
But they don’t tell you the beholder is wearing rose colored glasses.

So true Dave...
On that trip we had a plastic dust pan and a NJ resident with skills at snow shovel management. We were sure glad when he offered to "clear the decks".

I like the NZ comparison. Used to work with a couple of Kiwis and they agreed with my description of NZ as "British Columbia without the rest of North America attached."

"Come sailing with us in February" John says.
"It just gets a little chilly, nothing like you see in New Jersey" John says.
Yeah, right.

All true. @Ward H was itching to adventure in the Pacific Northwest. On most years all that I said is true.

But Weather is Weather, it often changes. Just so happened we had beautiful spring like sunny temperatures in Vancouver BC for the Boat Show. After our fun in the sun time, we jumped in the boat and Mother Nature offered him an adventure, as we made our way across the Georgia Strait into the Gulf Islands.

We visited with great people, ate delicious food, shared , wine, and sipped some fine Bourbon. What more do you need than a little trace of “Canadian snow at sea level “.

Just to ensure y’all don’t get the wrong impression that this aforesaid grandiose snow dump that occurred in BC stopped at the 49th Parallel, I have attached a photo. Whether team S/V Hadley stayed at home (Port of Everett) or wondered out to a boat show to the North (port of Vancouver), the weather that night was similar.

Yes, it was a real treat meeting Phil Herring and hearing stories of the early days of SBO. Phil is in John's second photo.
Another treat was meeting @Michael Davis and his wife Bev and hearing stories of their sailing adventures. Mike was kind enough to let us rest and get cleaned up at his home before heading down to the bar & restaurant for some beverage and good food.

You are so right on @Hello Below. We escaped, just in time, our Port of Everett the day before the big freeze. We were warmly embraced in Vancouver. No sooner than we left Vancouver to cross the Georgia Strait than the Yang to Vancouver’s Yin descended upon us.
Were we having fun? That is a subjective observation.

Would we try it again. Sure. We are sailors and BC offers us lots of water to enjoy.
