Bow light is a little more obscure, but frequently mention, "boat at anchor" and " visible 360 degrees." One article even mentioned that sailboat people think masthead means the sail's mast but is referring to the light mast used for it on a powerboat.

If you have any reference that contradict these definitions, I'd be happy to see them.
Ah ... in the golden olden days when you hang a lantern at the bow for anchoring! That seems like language from the olden days that appears to carry forward. Makes no difference as long as you know what you've got!

Bow light is a little more ambiguous than the term anchor light (BTW nothing is labeled "anchor light") but references say, "is a white light displayed by a ship at anchor, and visible 360 degrees."
Anchor light, steaming light and bow light are most definitely not interchangeable terms.

What is a "bow light" then? And why would it have a separate switch on a very limited panel? And why wouldn't an anchor light have it's own switch? Curious ....

What is the meaning of bow light?
noun. : the white light displayed forward by a ship at anchor or by a power ship under way.
Bow light Definition & Meaning - Merriam-Webster
Yes, that's where I was going in the end ... it seems that "bow light" is interchangeble with "anchor light". But why would it also be "by a power ship under way"? That seems conflicting, or at least confusing, doesn't it. It also seems ambiguous! Oh, I'll just stick with Steaming Light, Anchor Light, Deck Light and Running Lights as mine are labeled now. "Mast Light" and "Bow Light" just doesn't cut it as far as I'm concerned! "Cabin Lights" are easy enough!

just personal reference...and general consensus is as long as you now know. Good to find a spare switch to move electronics and re-deploy a proper anchor (bow) light.

As for labels: Brother P-Touch is durable and comes in many colors. The Dymo label was not OEM, nor should you worry about keeping it "original", just what works for you. EnJOY!

FYI never thought the Dymo was OEM, just wanted to keep it long enough to remember how it was being used by its author. After verifying what he meant by "inst. power" I removed the Dymo lable to reveal its original purpose, which I had already deduced by comparing it to which wire on the wiring diagram that it controls, which is "masthead light." I have learned from experience that jumping in and pulling out someone's mess is best done with much care, lest I have to virtually start from scratch in restoring things to their original, and proper state, and am left with some unknown "as built" leftovers.
