A famous Scottish climber (Tom Pattey) once described ice climbing as "just like fun, only completely different."

There are thing people do for reasons deeper than simple enjoyment.

Impressive but...Standing on his bow hauling in a wet sail while underway…. .no harness, no tether! He is just one slip away from a ghost ship.

And does anyone know any details of the boat he is sailing?

He is just one slip away from a ghost ship.
And apparently he is ok with that.

I don't see a tether being much help at the bow. If it is short enough so you don't go over the side, you would have a very hard time working.
I did a harness length test last year, with a center line jackline and when it would prevent me from going over at the cockpit and midships.. at the bow, I would end up hanging over the side.

I have yet to play with having some other system for the bow.

If you go over the side with a tether that actually allows that.. you are dead.

THAT SAID.. watch his other videos.. he uses a tether often.

I'm not pimping his channel, just though our recent discussions might relate.
I welcome pimping any channels that show something other than the horrible "boat opera" or "clickbait to pay for the boat i cant afford" crap that seem to dominate YouTube sailing channels

Glad you asked. Here's a vid about Erik's Contessa 35 (no surprise, eh)

BTW some of you may recognize the host of Alluring Arctic Sailing in the introduction. A colorful sailor currently winter sailing up the west coast to Alaska with is shy girlfriend. They're planning to return home to Finland via the Northwest Passage as she finishes up her PHD thesis. I've been following them this year, even though there's no thong bikinis it's still a good site.

Sailing the Northwest passage and working on her PhD? Again I ask: What was I doing at that age?

One of the things I love about the young adults of that age - they are often doing it right! One of the guys I work with (Oh right, used to work with - I'm retired now) hit the road in his campervan during covid and drove to Alaska, then down the west Coast, then over to the Rockies and went down million dollar highway... All the time working full time! Awesome!
