Any sailor in a homeport north of Alabama feels a particular excitement in March because commissioning season is just around the corner.

What have you got planned this year? A little maintenance, a quick, simple splash, or a major project or two?

Share your commissioning plans here. And if you’re lucky enough to sail year-round, try not to be too smug.

I was at my marina Sunday, putting a little VC17 on the rudder and other wear area, adding a new anode to the prop shaft and tightening the keel bolts.

Tally Ho is ready to splash, but marina doesn’t open until April 1.

I still need to take my winter cover off, and will touch up the anti fouling paint along the water line, but she is basically ready…

I ordered a new 135 Genoa over the winter and it is in my basement, ready to bend on. I also had my 2-year old main sail modified slightly (the headboard would catch in my topping lift on every tack)…so still need to pick that up from North Sail.

Anxious to get out in some strong wind with the smaller headsail and she how she sails.

And I set up 2 ascenders, bosuns chair and foot straps to facilitate getting up the mast. New windex light is going up along with putting wind instrument and windex back up for the season.

C’mon Spring!

I've also got a new sail to bend on . A 135 % genoa . New lower shrouds will hopefully be installed this week . As long as it doesn't snow . Once the mast is up I'll be able to finish installing the boom kicker .A replacement hatchboard with a built in sloar panel that will power a fan to keep the cabin cool and dry will probably round out the list .

I don't want much... I want to get past the next two weeks with my engine back in the boat.
We are all rooting for “the little engine that could”. Hope the injectors solve the problem and get you running.
