Changing to electric throttle control for 2001 Yanmar

Hi,
I have a 2001 Yanmar 4JH3-TE and looking at possibly add an electronic throttle control in place of the cable. Has anyone made the change and likes it. What did you end up doing. Only looking for one control at the wheel. I have looked at some on-line and looks like you can but not a lot of feedback.

Had electronic controls on my powerboat because it offered multiple control stations, which is beneficial for control at different locations, e.g., upper helm, lower helm, stern, etc. Expensive.

It seems like an electric control would be one more place for things to catastrophically fail. Electric controls will have many more potential failures points than a traditional cable. Cable controls can fail, I've had it happen twice, however, it was a very simple fix as the cable clamps were not adequately tightened by the yard. It was a quick and cheap, less than a dollar fix both times.

Yanmars can use a single handle control, or at least my 3JH2E has a single handle. Depending on your pedestal it could be simple to install.

I think a lot of cars have this type system. Should work anywhere. The only problem I see is that on boats we frequently have to shift from forward to reverse as when docking. At that time a single lever dual function controller works best as the engine is back to idle as the transmission is reversed. With separate throttle and shift controls and one hand on the wheel such maneuvering becomes very difficult.
