Replacing cockpit throttle on Elite 29 (aka Feeling 850)

Greetings,
Need to replace a broken throttle on a 1984 Elite 29 (aka Feeling 850). Current one is a "Marine Master." Has anyone replaced a throttle and if so, any wisdom you might be willing to share from replacing it will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to the forum. Afraid I don’t have a cookie cutter answer for you.

Your choice of sailboat, a Kirie built boat in France has great sailing characteristics. Parts like a throttle assembly would have been sourced as far back as 1983. The part looks to have been sold by Marine Master, possibly vintage 1983. I could not find info on the web.

This may need to be an exploratory discovery solution challenge.
What is the problem you are having?

Throttle issues are often linkage problems. Something has come loose or worn out. You find the issue or issues and tighten or replace the part. It may be in that box with the single screw holding the cover in place. That screw looks newer than the surrounding material which leads me to guess someone has removed the cover in the past couple of years.

On mature boats it is best to provide description and data about the issue. Then we can support you with ideas that can lead to a solution.

Consider yourself fortunate that the shifter/throttle is not in a steering pedestal!!

It looks like your access will be quite good (remove the housing inside the locker). I don't think the cables are necessarily proprietary and may well be Morse anyhow. If you're certain it's a broken cable (not just a loose/parted linkage) it's likely you can buy a suitably long replacement.
If the lever assembly is somehow damaged that's a completely different story....

Thank you both for your responses. Fortunately, the mechanical linkages are working fine. The problem is with the throttle column itself. The lever that engages/disengages the clutch apparently broke off with the previous owner. You can force it with a thin blade but obviously replacing the throttle column switch would be optimal. Given the age (guessing it is OEM from 1984), I'm thinking it will be easier just to replace the entire throttle assembly.

Edit: Is it just the red 'neutral' switch that has broken off?? You might be able to fabricate something for that function....
