Last year my wife and I purchased a 2000 Oceanis 461 and have done a number of upgrades. One of the last that she needs is either replacing or repairing the Cockpit teak panels as they have started to lift and desperately need some TLC. I have removed the transome scoop teak panel and have brought it home to see what I can do to repair. Before I dig in, I was wondering if anyone has experience in either replacing or removing and refinishing these teak panels? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can order replacement panels from Beneteau spare parts through your local dealer ($$$). There are also aftermarket vendors that will fabricate them for you. Or, if you have adequate woodworking skills and necessary power tools, you can fabricate your own. Some individuals are replacing with synthetic panels. Depending on how far the teak panels have deteriorated, you can remove the black sealer between the teak strips, reglue the teak to the backing panel, refinish the teak, and reapply the black sealer. I am surprised that you were. able to remove the panel without destroying it.

I am super interested in how you go with this one. From what I have read elsewhere, this will be a difficult process. Taking some pictures along the way would help those of us yet to have to do this a long way. How did you (KJpseph) the transom scoop panel? What damage, if any, did it suffer?
I have a 2012 Bene, and while the teak is OK, I can see this project will become one of mine in the next couple of years.

You should be OK for many years. Keep it cleaned & sealed with your favorite sealer. My boat is an ‘06 model and the teak is somewhat weathered, but not needing replacement. I use Semco teak sealer on seating surfaces. I should have sewn sunbrella covers when I got the boat to keep the teak looking new.

Our Bene 35s5 had the teak slats in the cockpit, many of which were cracked/broken/missing. Since the molding had recesses for the slats we chose to replace the 'slats' with a peel & stick rubber material. This same material is available in 20" wide in a "plank and groove' format.

Been a couple of seasons and still looking good...

Available in a wide variety of colours including 'teak'..
