i need to get my 28 ft sloop out of the water to redo the underside paint. my 2 years is up. my boat is currently at french creek marina in Parksville. does anyone know where and how the most cost effective way is to getthis job done?
I have and think I am considering getting a diver do it. thank youThe “where” part of hour question should be fairly easy. The vast majority of boats in your marina will have had their boat bottom painted in the last 2-4 years. Ask around and you will receive some suggestions as to the closest and best boatyards that will meet your needs. I expect that your closest may be in the Nanaimo or Comox/Courtenay areas. Some allow DIY if you so desire, others do not. So cost will differ greatly.
I do have 1 question: Why do you feel your boat needs a bottom paint? In our waters sea life is not that prolific. Time is only one aspect that determines if a bottom paint is needed. Type of paint that is currently on your boat, use of boat, water temp (cold where you are), sun light, etc are also deciding factors. In BC 4 to 5 years before a total bottom paint is not out of the ordinary. Have you considered a bottom cleaning by a diver or yourself?
