Hey guys so the trailer needs some paint and the boat needs some bottom paint too so I've just decided to take the boat off at this point. I've already built the stern cradle and am in the process of building the bow cradle. Was hoping to get some feed back before i go lifting a 1700 lbs boat. Ill post some pictures. Obviously the bow isnt finished but my main question is do you think a 4x4x8 is strong enough or should i laminate 2 2x6s?

I did something very similar with my Clipper 26. Lower the tongue all the way down and block the stern tight. I used a couple of 55-gallon drums with a cross beam that had some blocking shaped to the hull curve. Then ran the tongue as high as I could get it and put a another couple of drums each side of the bow and repeated the crossbeam and blocking for the bow.
After I pulled the trailer out, I dropped the keel for sandblasting and paint and did a full bottom job. I ran a couple of lines off the cleats to stakes in the ground to prevent any movement from wind. Worked great.

Hey thanks for all the comments, finally got the boat off the trailer. Took way more time than I thought but its high and dry now. Swapped the 4x4 out with a 4x6 which is much stronger. Will post pics in the morning. Thanks for all the help!

Trailer. Check tires for dry rot. Suggest replacing bearings and racers using marine compatible grease. If brakes , check that completely. Check whelcfenderscare secure. Check winch stand and the other leaf spring. Check trailer light. Check winch strap
