Seeking comments on wether the Axiom + has a better display and faster processor than the Axiom (original)? I have an oportunity to purchase a new Axiom 9 and wonder if I should pay extra for the Axiom9+?

If you do a generic web search, you will get some detailed explanations but the top 2 differences are 25% brighter screen and 16gb (versus 4gb) for the + version

If you do a bit of research you might buy Garmin instead. For the extra money, they make much better equipment which is much more user friendly. I speak from decades of experience.

For most electronics the manufacturer's literature is an exercise in obfuscation and the use of meaningless jargon which make comparison un-necessarily difficult. The WM site is somewhat useful. There used to be a side by side comparison function but I can't find it today. Nevertheless, here is what they have on the Axiom 9+MFD.
I think the quad processor is probably good as it redraws the screen faster. I think the Augmented Reality is a waste and, I believe, they warn you not to rely on it for navigation. I am undecided about the Lighthouse OS 3. The Real Vision Sonar is more for fishing than navigation. Other add ons like satellite view are clutter for me. KISS rule. I couldn't tell if this unit has bluetooth.
I would want to confirm that you can use Avionics and C-Map (And how much extra are they). GPS is a lot about the cartography. The ads only want to talk about Gee Wiz features. My 2 cents.

I have no idea about the speed comparison. I did, however, purchase an Axiom 9 a year ago to replace a 2004-era C80.Basically, I'm very happy with it. At the moment, it's totally un-networked, so it's just a plotter operating off of its own internal GPS. As such, it does 98% of what I need out of a plotter. I think the speed of the processor is just fine, actually much better than the C80. To zoom and move around, it's just like an iPhone or iPad, with pinch and one-finger moving. I'm finding that to zoom it in and out, it's faster and less error-prone to just use the big + and - soft-keys on the screen, as compared to pinching the touch screen, but the pinching gesture works fine. It's just a little bit fussy on a moving boat, compared to the +/i "keys".

I did buy a SeaTalk2 to SeaTalkNg converter to network in the older instruments. Haven't installed it yet. One great feature of the Axiom display, though, is that you can place data fields on the screen wherever you want them, such as SOG and Depth. Having a large SOG read-out right on the screen is something I really like, and Depth would be even more useful, since my depth-sounder display happens to be half hidden underneath the plotter (in a lower-level console). Really annoying when you're in thin water in a channel. So once I get the older instruments networked to the new plotter, having the depth right there on the screen will be huge. Not to mention waypoints and following a route with the autopilot.

Anyway, I can't advise about Axiom vs. Axiom+, but the Axiom seems to be plenty fast as far as I'm concerned. Good luck with your decision.

Jay, thanks for information. My C80 is what I'm trying to replace. It's GPS time is stuck in 2002 and Raymarine says that they don't have a remedy for it! I'll be integrating my ST60+ instruments with the ST2-STNg converter.

Going online to Raymarine you can find detail specifications about the two units. NEW Axiom+ Technical Specifications | Marine Electronics by Raymarine

The plus version has higher resolution, improved touch screen (water, fingers and touch screen need to play nice together. I would prefer to have a manual control when the sea gets angry and I really need the plotter), Brighter screen, Improved viewing angle, more electronics as in the Quad Processor, to highlight a few of the differences.

I do not have working experience with either unit. If I was to spend money on a MFD I would lean towards the 9+ Pro version based on my research. But that is not what I am spending money on at the moment.
