Could someone identify this furler for me please? It's pretty old, was on the boat when I bought it with no manual. Thank you.

It looks used... The line looks ready for replacement.
Does is still work?
Not sure of the make. They all work on a pretty simple principal.
Are you thinking of replacing it or servicing it?

Yeah, it's an old one, came with the boat in 2004, no manual. Furler has always worked well until this year, now it's being difficult. I want to lubricate it and hoped a manual would tell me how to go about it. Guess I'll just start unscrewing things. I have a new furling line, just put it off while tending to other matters. Thanks for your replay.

One idea would be to squirt some dish soap into the openings of the drum. Dawn is a gentle soap. It is what is used on oil covered birds.

Then use a strong jet of water to rinse the drum out. When rinsed, rotate the drum a few times and repeat the process.

Do the same for and bearings in the upper slide.

Check that the cable of your forestay is not fraying or broken.

Most furler drums are open. ProFurl is one that has sealed bearings. The wash does not work on sealed bearings. Your furler does not look like a ProFurler.

I will do that, and report back.
