I am interested in chartering a 37'+ sailboat in Lake Michigan or Lake Huron, in summer 2022. I would like the boat for 4-6 weeks I am flexible on the dates. I have 40+ years of sailing experience and am an expired 6 pack captain. The boat must be in tip-top shape and must have A/C. Let me know if you are interested in chartering your boat? andym0097@gmail.com 5172811983

You might have some luck checking around the Traverse City area, or Charlevoix and Harbor Springs.
Good luck finding one with air conditioning. They are around but scarce. The weather is cooler up north, and many sailboat owners do without.

I would strongly recommend searching in the North Channel, which is north of Lake Huron but part of the Great Lakes. Ihave extensively cruised L Michigan, including Traverse Bay, and L Ontario and nothing I have seen comes close to the North Channel, which I also cruised. This is a world class cruising area that many Great Lakes sailors are not familiar with. Here is one company: Canadian Yacht Charters - Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Canada (cycnorth.com)

On NMI and Chicago Craigslist I used to see posts for fractional ownership. Unless you were an early owner of bitcoin, chartering for 4-6 weeks would be absurdly expensive. In any case, check out Great Lakes Sailing Company. 4wks on a Jeanneau 379 will only set you back $21,000.

On second thought, Capt Andy, don't contact CYC. After this post I decided to do a charter next summer in the North Channel and I don't want the competition for boats or dates.

+1 on the North Channel. Georgian Bay and the North Channel (North of Manitoulin Island) are spectacular cruising grounds. COVID restrictions are dropping so you shouldn't have any problems with the border. With 4 weeks you could get from Little Current down to Perry Sound, over to Tobermory and back to the North Channel. A great mix of protected water, island hopping and open water cruising.

Looks to me like @Capt Andy was fishing to find someone on this list to allow him to charter their boat, didn't sound to me like he was looking for leads on charter companies... Also, no response in a week since posting...

Just my 2 cents worth...

Yes; however, good luck with that. I don't think many would be willing to incur the liability exposure and insurance ramifications if there was an incident. I do believe that most owners would not want a stranger, regardless of credentials, to use their prized possession. I know that I wouldn't. Several years ago, I was considering placing my boat in a charter service in Pensacola. The more I thought about it .....nah!

I have a hard enough time finding someone I'll let run my boat with me on it - now extend that to letting someone just take my boat for several weeks without me present??? Ya, dream on...

Unusual request for sure! Perhaps Capt Andy should consider purchasing a boat that is for sale and selling it right after he's done with his trip!
