But, it's looking like it might be a good idea to invest in new ones to be able to have them on hand because I will need them throughout my life with my vessel. As long as they are in decent condition. They are only there to keep the boat upright, all of the weight should be on the keel unless it is a swing keel
If you don't have chain for them, you can use shrink wrap string
