A very similar question was posted a couple of years back.If I were to replace my Raymarine ST40 Depth transducer, can I cut the existing cable and join the new transducer to it instead of laying the new cable?

Thank you for the assurance. I intend on same.I cut the cable when installing a new DST-800 transducer. Used marine grade heat shrink connectors, then wrapped with electrical tape. Working fine after 1 1/2 years.
Yes indeed that was my enquiry and fortunately the transducer wasn't faulty back then. But now hmm... It's been flagging shallow or zero waters so very often on 30-40 feet depth that I'm wondering what's wrong with it. Polled the transducer from hull and it looks clean.A very similar question was posted a couple of years back.
