Hi all!

The stripper rings on my Barient 21-33 winches (on my hunter 37.5) are slipping, causing some annoying line snagging on the winch. I've been looking for replacements and it seems that Arco winches in Australia sells replacements, but for 4 winches + shipping, this would almost be $200. I happen to have a 3d printer and technically I should be able to manufacture them myself. I found this old post, where someone made an aluminum version. Does anybody happen to have the specifications and measurements of this ring, or even better a CAD model? If not, I'll measure and model it myself and will publish it online.

Let me save you some aggravation. We had no end of problems with those stripper rings. We got supposed replacements from Arco. Cheap crap that failed after outrageous shipping charges.
Bite the bullet and get an Andersen to replace it, such a great winch.
We just replaced the main halyard, main sheet one. The port side one doesn’t take so much abuse.

Thanks for that! Yeah, I'm really not feeling like ordering. If I want to replace all 4, it'd cost me about $180.. I'll try 3d printing them first and see how that goes, because that would really only cost me a few bucks :)

Hey wouterdebie,
Did you end up 3D printing the stripper rings? I'm facing the same issue, wondering if the 3D printing idea worked for you.
Thanks!

There are a lot of wrecked sailboats from hurricanes. You should be able to buy some decent used winches. Just came back from Marathon and at least 20 sailboats still partially submerged. Go on a salvage trip and take some of them. LOL

Yeah sure :) getting to marathon and back will cost me at least a few hundred bucks, while I could print the part for a few dollars..
