Luperon is often used as a stop on the "thorny path" to the Caribbean, Bahamas to Turks and Caicos, to Luperon, to Puerto Rico, to USVI.

Never been there, but here it has a well protected harbor.

From what I've seen posted, many in there do not moor properly for a hurricane, so I'm not sure it would be a good hurricane hole. The last thing I'd want to worry about in 130 knots of wind is boats dragging down on me, just like in Martinique.
