Winch Handle Holder

Has anyone tried a Suncor winch handle holder? I've used bags, plastic pockets, pvc pipe, and tossed the handle into a coming box. Our new OneTouch power grip winch handle (the one with the long release lever, no thumb) has the big knob on it and it seems to always go in the pocket wrong and get in the way. This holder might take a little getting used to but we seem to hit the hole on the winch with no problem.

Where would you install it? Mast? Pedestal?

Probably one on the forward side of the pedestal for our normal 2 up sailing. Maybe one just inside the companionway (where the old pocket is now) for a crowded cockpit.

Thanks Ted. One of the reasons I found the Suncor holder intriguing was I could grab the shaft with one hand, instead of the handle, and be in the proper position (hand wise) to insert it into the winch. Currently we grab the handle, which spins, and then transfer the other hand to the shaft for insertion into the winch. Maybe a very shallow pocket would work where the majority of the shaft of the handle is available to grab.

Never used one..................we use Lewmar winch handle holder ($20 from Amazon) for our one touch Lewmar one touch (not power grip) aluminum winch handles. We have these mounted on the starboard and port cockpit wall adjacent to the companionway.

The previous owner of SV Hadley placed a winch holder next to the companionway. It neatly holds a small and large winch handle for easy access.

I located a second holder attached to the binnacle to hold the winch handle in the cockpit while sailing. It is also handy for holding a water bottle.
