I'm wondering whether anyone has replaced these and if so what did you use and where did you get it?

Thanks

Can you elaborate on that. Not sure if I KNOW what you are referring too.

The 45CC uses shock cord to support the companionway board (acrylic washboard). The shock cord acts as a spring to counterbalance the weight of the board which recesses into the cockpit floor. One of mine is broken and both need to be replaced.

Oh wow. Completely different setup than mine. A pic might help get some insight. I just have grooves on the sides of the companionway entrance that two acrylic pieces fit in. I just stow them below the steps. Most curious.

It's one of the sweeter features of the boat. It just floats when working properly. Push to the bottom to open the companionway and it locks. Release and it pops back up again to close.

Yes, one of mine broke shortly after buying the boat, just remove it, and replace with new bungee cord, I would suggest replacing both at the same time.

The bungee that is there look like it has a solid core. I'm trying to source something like that but it sounds like regular bungee might work based on your response.

Nothing special about the cord IMHO, I've done it on mine twice now with cord just from the hardware store. It's a fiddly job and you need to make sure you re-caulk the joints properly to prevent leaks.

In case you don't have it, here's the original Hunter factory install instructions. I understand that some boats had springs instead of the bungee cords, but I've never seen one.

Thank you so much for those documents. I hadn't seen them before. I have all the materials except the wool pile weatherstripping which I'm picking up tomorrow. Hopefully it goes back together more easily than it came apart. Wish me luck!
