Xantrex freedom 20 inverter charger and lithium batteries

So I have the old freedom 20 charging my gel cell batteries but considering using newer Li batteries. I think i know the answer but will I need to also get a new charger inverter?

One big advantage to Li batteries is the high rate of charge acceptance, much higher than the 20 amps your charger will deliver. They also need a specific charging profile that your charger may not be able to deliver.

Yea,,,,if i was full time cruising i would spring for the new system. Lighter weight, great dissipation curve, more bang in less space.

Spending 2 mo. a year on the boat, not so much
