I just finished putting a refrigeration unit in my H34 and thought I'd put some info here in case anyone wants to do this upgrade on their boat. I thought it was a fairly simple installation and I was able to get nice easy routing of refrigerant lines and controls. I used Isotherm products mainly because they offered a Smart Energy Control that claims to easier on the battery bank. It seems to work nicely and I'm hopeful I can live with the batteries I've got for a while.

I wrote a blurb with some photos I took if you're interested in seeing how it went.

Good luck with your SEC. after two units replaced following my installation the tech for Isotherm told me the units aren’t made for constant vibrations. I couldn’t believe it. They sent me a traditional thermostat free of charge and the system has been perfect since. With the SEC it wouldn’t keep a consistent temp regardless of the dip switch settings. A $100 spent on a upgrade I’ll never have back.

Thanks for the experience rating, good to know. I have the standard thermostat sitting on the parts shelf in the basement, I guess I will hold on to it in case I have issues.

I also installed an Isotherm conversion this summer, into a Legend 37. Found it difficult to set the stock thermostat in a manner that didn’t freeze everything... for $12 I installed on of these digital controllers, works perfect! I can’t take credit, I saw other Isotherm users had suggested this mod... comes from the home-brewing crowd.
